Study of Triads

Before the students begin work on the drills, explain that in all the songs they sing, over 50% of the notes - and often times even more - will be Tonic Triad notes: Do, Mi and Sol or 1-3-5.

If they can locate and sing these three pitches, they have the song 50% learned.  They should learn to use these three tones as guideposts during their singing.  The quicker they can recognize them, the more fluent they will become in their sight-singing.

- W. Jay Hoel

The drills are written in various keys.
